Taking the lead in 1863, Walter William Hughes gathered together a group of citizens who “felt the need of a first class hotel on an attractive site away from the congestion of the old city streets”.
As a discerning businessman with several interests in the College Green area of Bristol, his idea attracted great interest.
The Royal Hotel opened in 1868 and has continued to this day providing excellent accommodation and dining in the heart of the city.
Walter’s restaurant is offering locally sourced, regional flavours from the South West of England. Our menu is designed using the best produce from Gloucestershire, Somerset, Devon and Cornwall to create some great dishes that we are sure you will enjoy.
